A Crash Course to Living Well

Taught by my infant son

When my son turned 8 weeks old, I wrote this. Then I probably got interrupted by him needing to feed. Or maybe he woke from a nap? Nevertheless, here I am, 11 months later, and finally publishing my thoughts from that hazy, sleepless, yet ultra-joyful phase of life.

Are you also one of 4 Million Americans to have taken this same crash course in living well? If so — I’m curious if you’ve had similar takeaways.

Here it is as written in July 2018:

I still marvel that at 8 weeks old, my son managed to teach me more about life than what I thought I knew after 34 years.

The first several weeks of being a mom to Brooks have offered me insight into living well.

Let me be clear. When I say living well I also mean feeling good. I think the core of feeling good is directed in part by what you do for yourself as much as what you do for others.

If I had to distill these baby-led pearls of wisdom into a simple equation it would be:

Smiles + Empathy + Listening + Mental or Physical Exercise = Feeling
